This is a 7 mile circular route climbing what is known as the Skirrid. The starting point for us was the by the church in the village of Llanvihangel Crucorney. This was the final walk of holiday in the Brecon Beacons and it was fantastic. I would say this is a must do walk if you visit the Abergavenny area. It is not too demanding and yet is wonderfully rewarding. As always we got this route from Country Walking magazine. The map used is OS Explorer OL12. It is always a bonus for me if there is a pub at the end and this one ticked that box. Before heading back to Abergavenny, we stopped for a drink in the Skirrid Inn, supposedly one of the oldest pubs in Wales. We have fallen in love with the Brecon Beacons on this trip.
